Miami Bass Hip Hop duo, L’Trimm, comprised of Bunny D and Lady Tigra, recorded and released a trio of successful  albums; the gold certified Grab It!, which produced their biggest hit-to-date, “Cars with the Boom,” ‘89’s Drop That Bottom and Groovy in 1991, before quietly disbanding. 

First things first, last year (August 11th to be exact) marked the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop — What exactly does that mean to and for you?

50 years of Hip Hop means to me? = It means that Hip Hop has changed and saved so many people’s lives. Both economically and socially, politically and culturally.

To quote the late, great The Notorious B.I.G., “You never thought that Hip Hop would take it this far!” — Was this something that you ever could’ve imagined?

= I absolutely always knew that Hip Hop would still be around because it was the platform that the Black community needed to let our voices be heard.

What are some of your fondest, most stand-out moments / memories during your lengthy tenure in this thing called Hip Hop?

My most standout moments with Hip Hop definitely would be me seeing the impact it has made in society, and how many doors that it has opened for the Black community to finally have our voices be heard.

That said, what are your future plans and / or goals throughout the remainder of 2024 and beyond?

My future plans for the remainder of 2024 are to buy affordable housing for underserved communities and single parents with children. through my business Lakefield Global Investments.

Switching gears here, what exactly do you want people to get from your music?

The most important thing to me that people get from my music is it’s so important to be able to have fun with your music and never take yourself too serious. 😁

If you could collaborate with any one artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?

If I could collaborate with any artist, it would be Rakim. Because the brother is brilliant and so deep.

If you could play any venue in the world, which one would you choose and why?

If I could play any venue it would be the Lincoln Center in New York.

On a more serious note, are you happy with the current state of Hip Hop?

I like some of the Rappers that are out now. I would like to see the sisters of Rap remember how important it is for us to always be ladylike and classy because our actions affect society’s viewpoint of what it really means to be a black women. And, the sacrifices our ancestors have made for us to have the opportunities that are presented to us. So we have to always honor them.

What do you feel has and will continue to be the key to your longevity?

The key to our longevity is that we always keep God first.

Do you have any other outside / additional (future) aspirations, maybe even completely away from entertainment?

My aspirations are to own as many apartment buildings and homes as possible. To help as many people find affordable housing that God blesses me to have. And, to continue to build a lucrative legacy for my children.

What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?

The advice I would have for anyone getting in the music business is to learn the business so you don’t get taken advantage of.

Looking ahead, say five or maybe even ten years from now, where do you see yourself?

In five or ten years, I see myself blessed and highly favored. Owning all my properties outright. And, acting.

Lastly, what’s up with Lady Tigra [L’Trimm]?

Tigra is well. She’s busy being fabulous and fierce as always. 😃

My parting words for the readers is always know your worth and never compromise your beliefs for anyone…and, most importantly, Keep God first in all that you do. Thank you for the interview.
