On Episode 3 of Too Short‘s $hort Stories series, the West Coast pioneer and Mt. Westmore supergroup member talks about meeting the Notorious B.I.G. for the first time.
He details getting a call from Bad Boy CEO Puff Daddy saying that the Notorious B.I.G. wanted to do a song with him, and how he had met Biggie years earlier at an Outkast function in Atalnta, but didn’t realize who B.I.G. was at that time. Once the two got in the studio together, Biggie recounted their first meeting to Too Short.
“The first time I met Biggie, I didn’t even know I met Biggie,” Too Short says in the episode.
The two hip-hop icons collaborated on the song “The World Is Filled…”, featuring Carl Thomas & Puff Daddy, from B.I.G.’s 1997 album Life After Death. After that song, Too Short says that’s when a lot of New York rappers took notice and he started working with the likes of Jay-Z, Lil’ Kim, Keith Murray, Foxy Brown, Erick Sermon and more.
