DJ Battlecat, a multi-platinum producer for artists including Snoop Dogg, 2Pac, Xzibit, Tha Eastsidaz, Domino, Mount Westmore, and others, was recently the featured guest on the Holdin’ Court podcast to discuss his childhood growing up in the gang-infested South Central, Los Angeles Rollin’ 60 Crip neighborhood.
The legendary producer also talks with host Big Court about how his talent and love for music would help him avoid the pitfalls of the street and help launch a successful music career, his record deal with pop superstar Madonna‘s Maverick Records imprint, working with and being instrumental in getting Domino signed to Def Jam, and details the how Russell Simmons orchestrated the first East Coast-West Coast blend by embracing the production squad of L.A.
