As one half of Philadelphia, PA, based Hip Hop duo, The High & Mighty [alongside Mr. Eon], DJ Mighty Mi, née Milo Berger, is also the co-founder of Eastern Conference Records.

Berger, who has lent his production skills to remixes from the likes of Mobb Deep, Wu-Tang, MOP, Kool G Rap and KRS-One, hosts Then & Now on Sirius XM and serves as the Resident DJ & Music Director at On The Record, LV.

First things first, last year (August 11th to be exact) marked the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop — What exactly does that mean to and for you?

I was hooked from the second i heard Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five’s Greatest Messages in 4th grade.

To quote the late, great The Notorious B.I.G., “You never thought that Hip Hop would take it this far!” — Was this something that you ever could’ve imagined?

Not only worldwide, but in my own experiences as well.

What are some of your fondest, most stand-out moments / memories during your lengthy tenure in this thing called Hip Hop?

I think being a member of the Ecko Hip Hop team in Madden 2003 🙂

That said, what are your future plans and / or goals throughout the remainder of 2024 and beyond?

After a 15 year hiatus, we have made a new High & Mighty album. This was unexpected, so it’s very exciting.

Switching gears here, what exactly do you want people to get from your music?

Just audio pleasure. I think every group finds their fan-base how big or small. When someone says to me, “your music turned me onto Hip Hop at age 15,” there’s no bigger compliment. Because that’s what I would say to KRS if I had the chance to.

If you could collaborate with any one artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?

Chill Rob G in 1988. To me, that’s the most underrated rapping ever on an album.

If you could play any venue in the world, which one would you choose and why?

The Philadelphia Spectrum in 1987. Seeing the Beastie Boys and Public Enemy shows there as a teenager was as inspiring as it gets. There’s nothing like hearing the 808’s in an arena.

On a more serious note, are you happy with the current state of Hip Hop?

Not so much. Not trying to hate, but it’s just not the same art form I grew up on. There’s exceptions, likeKendrick Lamar and Little Simz.

What do you feel has and will continue to be the key to your longevity?

I think just staying true to the High & Mighty / Eastern Conference sound.

Do you have any other outside / additional (future) aspirations, maybe even completely away from entertainment?

Hopefully be able to give back in some kind of way.

What’s an average day like for you?

I live in Las Vegas now, where I play tons of tennis, DJ vinyl parties, make beats, and take care of my special need cats.

Please discuss how you interact with and respond to fans…

With kindness and respect.

What is your favorite part about this line of work? Your least favorite? And, why?

I would say self doubt can be my least favorite. Seeing people dance when I DJ is pretty cool. I like having our music pop up in weird places years later as well.

What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?

It’s just like anything in life, where you get back what you put in. Every successful producer I know, put in 1000’s of hours of work into their craft. There’s no faking it.

Looking ahead, say five or maybe even ten years from now, where do you see yourself?

Chilling 🙂

Is there anything I left out or just plain forgot to mention?

Just to look out for the new High & Mighty album Sound of Market dropping in October.

Any “parting” words for our readers?

F**K TRUMP!
