Rapper/Actor Ice-T struck gold for the second time in his career by taking home his second Grammy Award — and his first since 1991 — when his Heavy Metal group Body Count won the award of Best Metal Performance, for its 2020 single “Bum-Rush” of the Carnivore album.
The group beat out Code Orange’s “Underneath,” This Moment’s “The In-Between,” Poppy’s “Bloodmoney” and Power Trip’s “Executioner’s Tax (Swing the Ax).” for the win.
Ice-t’s last Grammy came in 1991, when he won Best Rap Performance By a Duo or Group for “Back on the Block,” the title track to Quincy Jones‘ 1989 release. That song featured Big Daddy Kane, Ice-T, Kool Moe Dee, Melle Mel, and Quincy D. III.
Congrats to Ice-T & Body Count!
