Hip-Hop pioneer and legendary emcee Melle Mel of the Furious Five recently sat down with Art of Dialogue to discuss a myriad of topics including meeting 2Pac for the first time at the House of Blues, his reaction to hearing 2Pac shout him out on the Me Against The World song “Old School”, and also gives his opinion on the 2Pac and Notorious B.I.G. beef.

One of the more interesting discussions was Melle Mel’s revelation that 2Pac was helping him to get a record deal before his death. During the conversation, Mel says, “It was gonna be me, Scorpio, and the Outlawz. We were going to do an album.”

Although at the time, even though 2Pac was on Death Row Records, and was possibly looking to branch out and form his own Makaveli Records, Melle Mel says that the record deal was with with neither label.

“It was on a label out of Chicago, actually. It was called Straight Game Records,” Melle Mel stated.
