In January, Onyx member Fredro Starr told The Source that he could potentially see the “Slam” collective go up against the “How I Could Just Kill a Man” group.
“I’m willing to take on Cypress Hill to do an Onyx/Cypress Hill VERZUZ; I’m willing to do an Onyx/Dogg Pound VERZUZ. I just think that the VERZUZ stage is great for artists who’ve been in the game for a minute and a lot of people say that n***** ain’t got 20 records which is crazy.” He continued by saying, “I think that Onyx has one of the best stage shows in hip-hop. You give us an hour with anybody on that stage, and they’re going to feel the wrath!”
Verzuz is nothing short of a phenomenon, and a full-length documentary about it is in the works for Amazon Prime. The title is Young, Gifted, and Black will be co-produced by Verzuz creators Swiss Beatz and Timbaland.
