Today, GRAMMY- Award winning artist, actor and multifaceted entertainer, Will Smith and American rapper and actor Joyner Lucas released their new single “TANTRUM” via The Orchard. Listen HERE
“TANTRUM” is a letter to Will and Joyner’s inner children, that part of them still recovering from the difficulties of the past. The anthemic, high-energy track was co-produced by Leo Son and Joyner Lucas, and features Will and Joyner trading powerful rap verses, their anger and determination echoing through their lyrics.
The accompanying music video uses animation by Cartuna Cartoon to create cartoon versions of Will & Joyner as the two face a series of dangerous trials from being stuck in the middle of the ocean, falling out of a skyscraper, and climbing mountains in the desert. Directed by Joyner Lucas and Matthew Bordenave, the “TANTRUM” music video imagery echoes personal struggles expressed throughout the song.
“TANTRUM” follows several inspirational music releases from Smith this year. This summer marked his official return to music with singles “You Can Make It” featuring Fridayy and Sunday Service Choir hitting at No.3 on Billboard Gospel chart – listen HERE and “WORK OF ART,” a collaboration with Russ, featuring his son Jaden – watch HERE.
Smith debuted “You Can Make It” at the 2024 BET Awards, on June 30th in Los Angeles. The powerful performance found him standing in a large fire pit surrounded by real flames – Watch HERE. Following that momentum, the music video for “WORK OF ART” directed by Willy Rodríguez features a dynamic troupe of dancers set at a grand european style museum. The video incorporates interviews from participants, juxtaposing an elaborate production with real-life, authentic stories.
To celebrate these releases and his return to music, Smith recently played two sold out shows in San Diego at The Observatory North Park. Fans were eager to see him perform in the US for the first time in many years. Earlier this year Smith delivered high-energy and electrifying performances at international festivals including Rock n Rio in Brazil, Mad Cool in Madrid, and MDLBEAST Soundstorm in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

About Joyner Lucas
Joyner Lucas is a two-time, Grammy-nominated hip-hop artist, entertainer, actor and entrepreneur. Over the course of his distinguished career, he has released several platinum and gold projects and singles, such as “ISIS,” “I’m Not Racist,” “Ramen & OJ,” “ADHD,” and “Your Heart,” among others.
Along the way, Joyner unveiled a never-ending stream of music and collaborations with fellow superstars such as Will Smith, J. Cole, Lil Baby, Eminem, Future, Chris Brown, Ashanti and more. In March of 2024, he released his sophomore studio album – Not Now I’m Busy, culminating the long-anticipated wait for new music. The stand out single “Best For Me” featured Grammy-nominated Country artist, Jelly Roll, and peaked Top 25 at U.S. Rhythm Radio, with the official music video receiving an MTV VMA nomination.
To further empower emerging artists, Joyner and his business partner Dhruv Joshi teamed up to co-found Tully, a platform that offers a 360 suite of tools for artists to manage and grow their careers. The service provides guided workflows, structured asset management, templated industry contracts, publishing, licensing support, music distribution, management features and more.
Joyner’s innovative work on Tully ultimately prompted Sony Music Entertainment to make a strategic investment into the platform at the onset of 2020. The two powerhouses would go on to announce an expansion of features to lift the platform to new heights.
