Sunday, in celebration of 4/20, global cultural icon Snoop Dogg released the new visual for “Last Dance With Mary Jane” featuring Tom Petty and Jelly Roll from his latest album ‘Missionary’ produced by Dr.Dre. The Dave Meyers directed visual pays homage to Snoop’s lifelong relationship with “mary jane,” starring Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Jelly Roll, Tom Petty, Tupac Shakur, Bob Marley, Redman, Method Man, B-Real, and Wiz Khalifa, and features animation from Temple Caché.
Petty, who was connected to Dre through Interscope founder Jimmy Iovine, seemed to anticipate Dre and Snoop would use it one day. “I have this video clip with Tom Petty saying ‘If Dre ever samples the song Mary Jane’s Last Dance, he’s going to have an instant hit on his hands,’” Dre told The Los Angeles Times. Watch the clip of Petty HERE. “It comes along with a massive amount of trust. And you know, Snoop’s putting his entire career and his legacy and everything that he’s built in my hands. So I have to really nurture that and make sure it’s presented in the right way.”
Sunday, Snoop Dogg also released a special 4/20 themed limited edition merch capsule and vinyl exclusively available at snoopdogg.lnk.to/officialstore. Additionally, Snoop currently graces one of the worldwide covers for the 2025 TIME100, its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
Missionary, released in December via Death Row, Aftermath and Interscope, notably marks the first collaborative album from Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre since Snoop’s 1993 classic debut album Doggystyle, and their chemistry remains unmatched. The album boasts a star studded list of special guests including Eminem, 50 Cent, Sting, BJ the Chicago Kid, Method Man, and more, and features hit singles such as “Gorgeous” featuring Jhené Aiko which debuted on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart at No. 29, celebrating their return to the respectable chart for the first time in 13 years. Missionary is the latest, but by no means final, chapter in Snoop’s story. It’s more than an album—it’s a moment for the culture that further cements the legacy Snoop and Dre have built across rap and pop culture as one of the most important and influential musical duos in music history.
