In an Instagram post earlier this afternoon from DJ Battlecat, Hip-Hop legend Snoop Dogg is seen in the studio bumping a new song produced by Battlecat from his upcoming album. Additionally, the man sitting next to him is none other than Harry-O. For those who don’t know, Michael “Harry-O” Harris played a crucial role in developing the first label Snoop called home, Death Row Records. Harris invested a reported 1.5 million into the then-upstart company in the early ’90s.

Harris went to jail in 1988 for cocaine trafficking and attempted murder (the alleged victim recanted). But rather than a sentence that fit the crime, he was sentenced to 235 months for drug crimes. Harris made the news in January 2021 when President Trump, just shy of leaving office, pardoned his conviction.

When he was released, Harris’s attorney, Mr. Bruce Zucker, informed Dailymail.com that Harris’ sentence was “unduly harsh.” He continued by saying, “It occurred during the 1980s, at a time when then Presidents Ronald Regan and George H.W. Bush authorized legislation that imposed draconian penalties for drug offenses, which primarily and adversely affected young African American men living in the inner-city, such as Mr. Harris.”
