As part of the legendary Uncle Jamms Army DJ crew, The Egyptian Lover ruled Los Angeles in the early 80’s. Not only did he put on iconic shows at The Sports Arena with Uncle Jamms Army but he also laid the foundation for the recording scene on the West Coast with cuts like “Egypt, Egypt”, “My Beat Goes Boom”, “What Is A DJ?”, “Dial-A-Freak”, “Girls” and more. These songs were the sounds of the streets before the gangster rap era took over and they were essential to the party scene that got girls on the dancefloor to do a sexy dance called the “freak”. In this new exclusive interview, The Egyptian Lover gives us a little history lesson about his career and talks about his latest album release “1986”.
