East Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York, Hip Hop trio Fu-Schnickens, comprised of Chip Fu, Moc Fu and Poc Fu, dropped their gold certified Jive Records‘ debut, F.U. Don’t Take It Personal, which spawned three commercial singles; “Ring the Alarm,” “La Schmoove,” featuring the late Phife Dawg [A Tribe Called Quest], and “True Fuschnick,” back on February 25, 1992,

In ‘93, Fu-Schnickens returned to the lab and began work on what would later become their sophomore collection, Nervous Breakdown, yielding an additional three solid entries; the then-rookie NBA star Shaquille “Shaq Fu” O’Neal assisted “What’s Up Doc? (Can We Rock),” “Breakdown” and “Sum Dum Munkey.”

First things first, last year (August 11th to be exact) marked the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop — What exactly does that mean to and for you?

It meant a lot, but it’s from August 11, 2023 / 2024 so I can’t wait to see what else they have in store. Aside from all of that, I can’t wait to release a few projects I have in the works.

To quote the late, great The Notorious B.I.G., “You never thought that Hip Hop would take it this far!” — Was this something that you ever could’ve imagined?

Yes. If we, the creators of the genre, continue to stay creative and to allow the culture to grow, then it would always be around for years and generations to come.

What are some of your fondest, most stand-out moments / memories during your lengthy tenure in this thing called Hip Hop?

Memories is rocking overseas for 40,000 strong with my band members. We had a lot of moments that can’t be duplicated, and I must say I’m Glad I shared it with those other two guys [Poc and Moc].

That said, what are your future plans and / or goals throughout the remainder of 2024 and beyond?

To release this solo album called Royal Blood, along with launching a few documentaries about the culture and its growth.

You’re currently gearing up for your official first solo LP, Royal Blood — Conceptually, what does this title represent both to and for you?

Royal Blood means of Royal Blood, meaning I’m of royalty. I look at my ancestors who are Kings and Queens, and how much sacrifices was made for my generation to be here. So I’m here as a King, ready to lead this new generation coming up underneath me. Teach them different styles, flows and concepts musically. Along with teaching them about a new way of thinking.

Aside from the obvious, how then does Royal Blood either differ and / or compare to what you’re already both known and loved for as 1/3 of the Fu-Schnickens?

Well, it differs ‘cause you finally get to hear full length songs by me. And, I’ll be able to tell the stories I want to tell Conceptually. This will be the first time people will actually hear how I think, and get a glimpse of not only who I am but what I stand for.

Royal Blood is a Blaq Ink Entertainment through SRG / ILS joint venture — How did this connection even come about?

Well, I was looking for the right company to partner up with so…shout out to Domonique and their entire staff, along with Marlon. My Blaq Ink MG Squad said it was time To put out a few things, so we finalized and are ready.

Also, why the new a.k.a. (alter ego) moniker Worriez?

Worries…Worriez comes from Busta Rhymes and my wife. Busta and I always talked about how he felt about my name, and said because of what I can do and what people are about to hear they should be worried! Shout out to Busta for that!! My wife said the same thing; she said people should “Be Worried“ this time around, so Worriez for short!

Switching gears here, what exactly do you want people to get from your music?

I want them to feel the love and the energy…the creativity…the time and effort put into the project, along with my growth as an artist.

If you could collaborate with any one artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?

Michael Jackson, he is the King.

If you could play any venue in the world, which one would you choose and why?

The Grammys and American Music Awards to shock the world, ‘cause I know I can do it.

On a more serious note, are you happy with the current state of Hip Hop?

I’m happy with some, not all. But Hip Hop will continue to grow as it should; some music will be loved, and some Won’t.

What do you feel has and will continue to be the key to your longevity?

The key to my longevity will be to continue to study and listen; as long as I listen and study, I’ll be fine.

Do you have any other outside / additional (future) aspirations, maybe even completely away from entertainment?

Well, one thing I want to do is build schools in the five boroughs. I have a workshop called MAATH [music appreciation art time And healing] that I want all over the world also. One in each country helping kids to learn.

What’s an average day like for you?

Average day…wake up, pray, gym, work, family time.

Please discuss how you interact with and respond to fans…

I love fans – people who respect my craft – I treat them like family, man. We should sit, talk, take pictures, etcetera. Some People I’ve met, I am still friends with to this day.

What is your favorite part about this line of work? Your least favorite? And, why?

Favorite…changing lives…least Favorite, the lies and deceit and people Wasting my time.

What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?

Use my footsteps as a map…doesn’t mean you will end up where you want to be, but with prayer and determination you will end up being farther than you ever dreamed.

Looking ahead, say five or maybe even ten years from now, where do you see yourself?

5 to ten years, running my schools and entertainment companies and still doing music.

Lastly, what’s up with Moc & Poc Fu [Fu-Schnickens]?

Moc and Poc are good; can’t wait to possibly do a few overseas tours. And, touch the fans, etcetera.

Any “parting” words for our readers?

Stay prayed up, and Royal Blood is on the way.
