Dr. Dre Producing “What’s Going On” Marvin Gaye Biopic With Director Allen Hughes

The What’s Going On biopic of iconic soul singer Marvin Gaye is coming, produced by Dr. Dre, Jimmy Iovine, and Andrew Lazar, with filmmaker Allen Hughes (Menace II Society, Defiant Ones) set to direct.

Warner Bros. acquired the Marcus Gardley script, and the singer’s estate and Motown are also involved which means the rights to use any and all of Gaye’s signature songs will be made available. It’s been a long road, with several failed attempts, but the singer’s story will finally be brought to the screen.
