(Los Angeles, CA) – Today, Red Bull Records is pleased to announce the continuation of its partnership with trailblazing hip-hop artist Blxst. Through this, Red Bull Records will release new music from the producer, singer, and rapper, including his highly anticipated full-length album in 2022. The news follows Blxst’s first-ever award show nomination as “Best New Hip Hop Artist” at the 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards.
The partnership will also entail a joint venture between Red Bull Records and Blxst’s own company, Evgle, initially founded in 2018. Through this venture, Red Bull Records and Evgle will work in tandem to facilitate new artist signings and furnish rising talent.
“Blxst has established himself as a groundbreaking international artist through his visionary sound and an unrivaled dedication to his craft, and we look forward to amplifying this next chapter of his career alongside Evgle,” says Red Bull Records’ Managing Director, Greg Hammer. “Our SVP / Head of A&R, Kenny Salcido, and our VP of A&R, Charles Burks III, were passionately involved in the project from the beginning, and have been instrumental in the continuation of this partnership.”
“Everything we’re building at Evgle centers around innovation, family, and community,” notes Blxst. “As I enter the next phase of my career as an Artist and Business Owner, I’m excited to continue our partnership with Red Bull Records, a company that has supported my vision.”
“Evgle is a company that is vertically integrated from the ground floor and built for the long run,” says Evgle’s President and Blxst’s Manager, Victor Burnett. “Our fully staffed team has the ability to create, design, process, and operationalize at a high level, and with this extended partnership, we’re excited to take our operations to new heights in the music business and beyond.”
“We wanted this innovative partnership to set a precedent for the next batch of Black artists to find a partner that supports their vision not just creatively but from a business perspective as well,” says Attorney/Partner for Blxst and Evgle, Karl Fowlkes, Esq. “With this deal in place, the pieces are there for Blxst and Evgle to make a championship run.”
Since the release of his debut EP in 2020, No Love Lost, Blxst has established himself as a breakout talent and the next West Coast artist to watch. With over 400 million streams to date, the project peaked at #3 on the Billboard Heatseekers Album Chart, while his hit single “Overrated” hit #15 at Urban radio.
Blxst only increased his momentum throughout 2021, releasing the two-track project Just For Clarity with Russ and Drakeo the Ruler, as well as Sixtape 2 with Bino Rideaux, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Album Chart and broke into the Billboard Top 200. In addition to his own releases, Blxst has lent his penchant for melodic hooks and slick lyricism to numerous collaborations with heavyweight artists such as Nas, Mozzy, Dame D.O.L.L.A, and more.
With his music featured on Madden 22 and NBA2K22, as well as his single “Gang Slide” serving as the main theme for Issa Rae’s Sweet Life: Los Angeles, this summer Blxst launched his Guide to Los Angeles with Apple Maps, a one-of-a-kind immersive experience personally curated by the artist of his hometown.
Through these successes this past year, Blxst has earned a number of accolades, including a place on the 2021 XXL Freshman Class, as well as being labeled a BET Amplified Artist, an Amazon Breakthrough Artist, and the inaugural recipient of the Billboard Rising Star Award. This fall sees Blxst embark on his first North American tour, which sold out in a record 10 seconds, as well as his first international date in London.
The deluxe edition of No Love Lost yielded the smash “Chosen” featuring Ty Dolla $ign and Tyga, posting up over 150 million streams in less than a year. Pigeons & Planes crowned it “one of the best projects” of the year. Kickstarting 2021, he dropped the Just For Clarity two-pack and Sixtape 2 with Bino Rideaux. Posting up half a billion streams, Blxst continues to traffic in a lane of his own, bringing the game with him.
