It’s no secret that Death Row Records, the iconic West Coast label that released multi-platinum albums such as Dr. Dre’s The Chronic, Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle, Tha Dogg Pound’s Dogg Food, and 2pac’s All Eyez On Me, has been going through a multitude of hands since the late 90’s. After the incarceration of former label head Suge Knight, 2Pac’s 1996 murder, and the departure of Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, the label has been sold multiple times from companies like EOne, to toymaker Hasbro, and to now being in the hands of The Blackstone Group.

Since the beginning of this year, the label’s consultant John Payne (Death Row Records co-founder along with Suge Knight, Dr. Dre, The D.O.C., and Dick Griffey) has been touting the plans of the upcoming Death Row Records 30th Anniversary coming in February 2022, which is et to include the infamously vaulted music from artists like Lady of RageTha Dogg Pound2nd II NoneTha RealestCPO Boss HoggThe OutlawzSam Sneed and more.

Snoop Dogg, the former Death Row Records recording artist, appeared on the Million Dollaz Worth Of Game Podcast, and spoke to hosts Gillie Da King and Wallo267 and said, “I think all of Death Row should be in my hands. I should be running that shit. Just like I’m at a position at Def Jam, Death Row means more to me because I helped create that. I think they should give me that and let me run that shit with the merchandise out, with the music all over the world. Find some new West Coast acts.”

Snoop also said that had he been running the label even five years ago that he could have had Roddy RicchTy Dolla $ignYG, and “anything coming out the west would have been on Death Row.”
