Arkansas bred, Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, bLAck pARty, returns with a new single“Hotline” released via Childish Gambino’s label Wolf + Rothstein and RCA Records. Produced by Lido and directed by frequent collaborator Dylan McGale, the airy psychedelic track brings you into an 80’s-style home as bLAck pARty wanders around every room as his sultry voice sings “pick up the phone when a real one call ya.”
About the new single, bLAck pARty says, “Hotline is one of those rare records that came out of a producer and an artist meeting for the first time. Lido and I were experimenting and getting to know each other and ended up creating something that we both loved on the first day. I love how “Hotline” turned out and the video by Dylan McGale (who directed my videos Dancing and No Complaints) is one of my favorites. More to come from Lido and myself on the upcoming album!”
bLAck pARty, born Malik Flint, began as a producer, first working with Kari Faux in 2013 in what has become a long-standing producer-artist collaboration. He emerged as a solo artist in 2016 with the debut of his critically acclaimed project, MANGO, which went viral from its “Best View” visual. Since then, he’s gone on to work on Childish Gambino’s Awaken! My Love as well as music for TV series such as Insecure, Dear White People, and Atlanta in addition to executive producing Faux’sLost en Los Angeles.
Most recently, bLAck pARty released Birds & Bees: a two-song bundle via Childish Gambino’s label Wolf + Rothstein / RCA Records. The new offering includes “Lay (Season 5 Version),” a previously released song stripped down to its purest production which was featured on the final season of Insecure, and “Soakin,” a new song featuring Gwen Bunn, stays in the style of bLAck pARty’s production, blending psychedelic soul and R&B.
Now, with the release of “Hotline,” bLAck pARty is ready to enter into the next phase with his forthcoming album arriving in Summer 2022.
