Multi-platinum producer and west coast pioneer Chris “The Glove” Taylor recently dropped the Redshirt Freshman album featuring Neb Luv of the Five Footaz, Player, Syd, Church, and others.
The 14-track Web 5 release is produced by Chris “The Glove” Taylor and includes the introspective track “Cahuenga Boulevard” detailing his history working with Dr. Dre, moving from Ruthless Records to Death Row Records with the help of Suge Knight, the early creativity and influence of The D.O.C. and Snoop Dogg in building the label, and 2Pac coming through with “California Love”, before the downfall of the storied label.
Taylor spoke exclusively to Chad Kiser of West Coast Styles about the release saying, “Redshirt Freshman is a reference to the XXL Freshman Class. In the NCAA you can be a “redshirt freshman” and play with the team so the next year you can start and still have 4 years eligibility. And since I am an accomplished producer I can’t claim to be a rapper, but I am a vocalist and still have eligibility at 60. Special thanks to Stacey Toy, Tony Hasbun, and my boy Kmackondabeat.”
This album is not a streaming release and is only available as a direct sale via cashapp/Zelle/Crypto. for more information on purchasing the album, fans can email REDSHIRT to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
An NFT Collection will also be launching through NFT Drop soon, Redshirt Freshman is a growing playlist in which new songs will be added monthly to the first 1000 purchasers, with the first 200 gaining free access to the NFT Launch party and performance.
