Veteran music executive James Broadway made his mark in the music industry as the former A&R Director for the infamous Loud Records label during its golden years in the 90’s. Broadway was responsible for signing acts like Tha Liks, Xzibit, and other acts to the label and as a producer he has worked with acts such as Ice Cube, King T, Tupac Shakur, and many other notable acts on the West Coast. After his time at Loud Records, Broadway then served as the A&R Director for MCA/Universal and has been involved with companies like St. Ides (commercials), Fox Sports and Dash Radio. The list of musical legends he has also worked with include Patti LaBelle, Gladys Knight, Jeffrey Osbourne and George Clinton.
With the establishment of his independent music imprint The Label, James Broadway is ready to release music from some of Los Angeles’ greatest underground hip-hop acts. As an experienced DJ and A&R, Broadway knows good music and hip-hop and although he enjoys some of the music coming out today his aim is to release more quality sounds to the world. One of his releases is the DNA project’s “Why George” which is a social justice soundtrack for today’s times as the public continues to protest on behalf of Black Americans such as George Floyd and Breona Taylor who were murdered by the police. The song features legendary Los Angeles underground artist Medusa the Goddess, a Project Blowed affiliate who is respected for her emcee skills in the hip-hop world and veteran underground emcee King Dopest. The Label is geared up for the release of quality tracks and videos for the rest of 2020 and well into the next year and beyond. With his ear for music and talent, there is no doubt that the audiences will love what they hear.
